The fundraising efforts of Clachan resident Lee Bastow, who recently completed her second charity Kiltwalk, have been recognised at the Scottish Parliament.

Lee, who raised £3,300, chose the Marie Semple Cancer Fund to be the beneficiary of her trekking, which included the 15-mile Glasgow Kiltwalk in April and an almost 12-mile walk in Edinburgh.

Highlands and Islands Regional MSP Tim Eagle, who lodged a motion highlighting her achievement, said: “It’s a privilege to be able to highlight the efforts of people who make such an effort to support local good causes such as the Marie Semple Cancer Fund which helps people in Kintyre.

“Lee spent eight hours hiking and covered 27 miles in total. That’s quite an achievement and I very much hope that she wasn’t too footsore by the end of it!”
